Grafton Chase Award
In honor of Grafton D. Chase, Ph.D., a founding
member, Past-President and good friend of CLAS, the executive
board established in 1994 "The Grafton D. Chase Memorial
Education Fund."
The purpose of this fund is to provide an annual award in recognition
of a student or post-doctoral individual (resident or fellow)
for excellence in academic achievement related to ligand assays.

Qualification for Application
Applicants for this award must satisfy the following conditions:
- The applicant must be a full or part-time student or post-doctoral
individual at an accredited educational institution.
- The applicant must be sponsored for the Award by a full member
of CLAS. (If applicant does not know a CLAS member, please contact
the National office so that we may set-up a connection with
a CLAS member for sponsorship 734-722-6290)
- The applicant must attend the entire scientific session of
the annual meeting for which the Award is granted
- The applicant should be involved in active research for which
a scientific abstract of the current and/or future research
will be submitted.
- The applicant will present a 10-minute lecture during the
awards session of the annual meeting for which support was provided.
- The completed application, with abstract, must be received
postmarked no later than January 16, 2007. Download

- The Sponsor MUST have knowledge of the applicants research
and/or academic work and submit a letter of recommendation stating
the reasons for supporting the applicant.
Award Determination
The Grafton Chase Fund Award will be given to only one
individual per year. Group or collaborative efforts will be evaluated,
but the Award can be made only to the individual indicated as
principal in the submission. The award is to be used to defray
attendance expenses (or a portion thereof) at the National Meeting
of the year the award is made. This year the award will consist
of a full registration to the annual meeting and $500 for other
meeting expenses at the discretion of the award recipient

Distinguish Scientist Award
The Distinguished Scientist Awards are presented
for outstanding accomplishments in fields related to ligand assays.
Typically, one award recognizes accomplishments in related basic
research and the other recognizes contributions to the application
of ligand assay technology to clinical medicine. Nominees are not
required to be CLAS members |
Distinguish Service Award
We are looking for a few good CLAS members. The CLAS Distinguished
Service Award recognizes service to the Clinical Ligand
Assay Society by active participation in Society activities, contribution
of time and talent, service as an officer or on committees, and
contributions as a speaker or author in Society programs and publications.

Best Poster or Abstract Award
At each CLAS Annual Meeting, there is a single
session that includes all poster presentations. This session is
generally assigned a period of time during one of the meeting days.
The presenter or, in the case of multiple presenters, one of the
presenters is stationed at the presentation for a set period of
time. Presenters are provided with a 4 × 8 foot space to display
their materials. The Clinical Ligand Assay Society
regards poster presentations as a particularly effective way to
present complex graphic and/or quantitative data.
The criteria for the Best Poster Award are:
- Clarity of submitted abstract
- Importance of the work
- Novelty of the work
- Level of completion of the work
- Ability of the presenter to explain the work
The award is given without concern for the presenters academic
status, ethnicity, gender or country of origin. A panel of experts
will select the candidates for this Award. There can be co-authors,
but the first author or presenter will receive the award. |
Student Travel Grant
Participation by students in the CLAS National Annual Meeting
is highly endouraged. On occassion Student Travel Grants
may be available. These awards by CLAS are on the basis of abstracts
submitted for presentation at the Annual Meeting. Student abstracts
with the highest degree of scientific value innovation and quality
are paramount for selection. Inquiries must be made to the CLAS
National Office. |
